The Empathy, Narrative and Cultural Values (ENCV) project has run a series of public engagement, research dissemination, and collaborative events since its inception in 2023. Below is a selected list of ENCV’s activities.
ENCV Health Strand Findings Symposium at Green Lane Masjid
At this symposium, we shared key findings from the project, introduce practical tools, and open up discussion on how trusted community partnerships can strengthen more compassionate and culturally responsive cancer services—locally and beyond. Attendees included community members, healthcare professionals, researchers, and organisations working in cancer care and support.

ENCV Health Symposium 2026 – Gallery
ENCV at National Literacy Trust’s Secondary Conference 2026
Dr Eva Momtaz and Mrs Vanessa Havill, former English A Level teacher at Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College, co-led a workshop, “Diversifying approaches to reading unseen texts.” Using materials co-created as part of the ENCV project, Vanessa and Eva modelled an unseen extract activity showing how to build students’ confidence and independence in responding to literary texts.

Story Exchange Exercise at Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College
In collaboration with Narrative4, students from Joseph Chamberlain participated in a Story Exchange exercise, fostering friendships and connection. The students reported valuing the safe space to share and being moved by peers’ stories.
